Mayor Chris Clark announced the launch of Citizen Advisory Boards to give residents a role in shaping city policy. Boards will focus on key community issues, including distressed properties and animal control. Applications are available in the mayor’s office now.
The Thornton Township High Schools District 205’s student board is aiming to boost student and community engagement through their programming this year. Meanwhile, members are looking to fill a newly vacant seat on the board.
District 205 presented an $115 tentative budget that will be reviewed in September. Despite a decrease in federal funding, officials said steady state support and past tax relief keep the district’s finances stable.
Harvey City Council approved expenses and raised fines for noise violations at its July 28 meeting, decisions that came just three weeks before plans to lay off 10 percent of its workforce.
