Here’s who’s on the ballot for the 3rd Ward and what we know about them.

Candidates are listed in ballot order.

Candidates

Telanee Smith

Smith is finishing out the term of Quinton Crudup, who resigned last year; she was appointed to the Council by Mayor Chris Clark.

Prior to her appointment, she had no experience in public office.

Unsurprisingly, she votes in favor of many of his initiatives. Smith works for the Illinois State Department of Children and Family Services.

She has donated over $10,000 to Clark since 2019, according to an HWH analysis of campaign finance. There are no reported campaign contributions from Clark to Smith, however.

Mauzkie Ervin

Ervin previously served as a Harvey Public Library District trustee until 2021 when he lost his reelection bid. Ervin didn’t support the library expansion, warning it was a financial mistake the district couldn’t afford.

Ervin was a member of the now defunct Har-V Coalition, a local community group.
