Editorial Policy

Editorial Independence

Our organization seeks to create and maintain a diverse portfolio of revenue streams in the interest of our long term sustainability and capacity. We maintain boundaries between our editorial practices and business interests to protect the integrity of our work and ethically serve our audiences. No form of financial support including grants, donations, sponsorships or advertising influences editorial decisions and our coverage is not an endorsement of any donor, sponsor or advertiser.

No person covered by this policy can be in the business of lobbying or creating content on behalf of a political candidate, politician or lobbying entity nor can they work for a state, local, or municipal government entity or be a member of Congress.

Ethics

We center ethical practices and harm prevention in the course of doing our work. We follow the Society of Professional Journalists Code of Ethics:

  • Ethical journalism should be accurate and fair. Journalists should be honest and courageous in gathering, reporting and interpreting information.
  • Ethical journalism treats sources, subjects, colleagues and members of the public as human beings deserving of respect.
  • The highest and primary obligation of ethical journalism is to serve the public.
  • Ethical journalism means taking responsibility for one’s work and explaining one’s decisions to the public.

Corrections

Any errors in our work are to be corrected as promptly and transparently as possible with verified correct information. Details of the correction will be noted within the original piece of work or appended to the work. We invite notification of any errors or omissions.
