Korn Ferry slated to lead Harvey library search for executive director

Pending contract approval, the search firm will work to help the library fill the position, which has been vacant since at least August 2024.

The Harvey Public Library District board of trustees held a brief special meeting on April 15, addressing several key staffing decisions in a session that lasted just under an hour.

Trustee Charwana Morgan was absent, but the remainder of the board was present. After roll call, with no public comment from the audience, the board promptly entered executive session.

Upon returning to open session, the board approved the termination of an employee, identified only as “Employee A,” following discussions held in private.

The board also approved Korn Ferry, a global executive search firm with American offices, to assist in hiring the next executive director. The contract is pending final approval from the board’s attorney.

The library hasn’t had an executive director since at least August 2024. Kisha McCaskill, county commissioner and wife of board president Anthony McCaskill, has worked as a paid consultant overseeing operations. While he defended the move, it invited backlash from locals.

Though absent at the special meeting, Morgan previously emphasized considering Harvey residents in the hiring process.

In another personnel-related item, trustee Tamika Price introduced a motion to convert two current staff members to full-time associate roles. The board approved the motion, though concerns were raised about the cost.

“As we discussed in the executive session, the amount of money to turn over those employees would be kind of expensive,” said president McCaskill.
