Three people were arrested in connection with a robbery of a United States Postal Service worker earlier today. Harvey spokesperson Glenn Harston II released the statement this evening:

“The Harvey Police Department, in collaboration with U.S. Postal Inspectors, swiftly apprehended suspects and recovered stolen mail following an armed robbery of a United States Postal Service (USPS) letter carrier.

At approximately 9:55 a.m. on January 8, a USPS letter carrier was delivering mail near 15801 S. Halsted Street when an unidentified male suspect brandished a black firearm with a drum magazine and demanded money. The suspect searched the carrier’s pockets, entered the mail truck, and stole two bins of packages and a backpack before fleeing the scene.

U.S. Postal Inspectors canvassed the area in search of the suspect when they heard gunshots and pursued three individuals to a residence at 620 E 157th Place. After obtaining consent to search the premises, the inspectors, with support from the Harvey Police Department, detained the individuals, recovered the stolen mail, and seized two firearms.

All three suspects were promptly transported to the Harvey Police Department, where an investigation is ongoing, The successful and rapid resolution of this case reflects the excellent collaboration between the Harvey Police Department and the U.S. Postal Service.

The Harvey Police Department remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of its community and thanks its partners at the USPS for their professionalism and dedication.”
