Harvey City Hall closed amid ongoing storms across south suburbs
Staffers are still answering phone calls, and late fees will not apply to water bills as a result of the closure.
Harvey City Hall is closed today as another intense line of storms barrel through the Southland area, preventing seniors and other residents from having to travel in potentially dangerous weather, the city announced on social media Tuesday.
“The storms we have experienced recently have caused damage to our structures and infrastructure, and we are continuing to monitor conditions and respond as needed,” the city wrote on its official Facebook page.
Late fee will not be applied on due bills as a result of the closure, and city staffers will still answer phone calls. A high call volume is expected, the city wrote.
On Monday, early week storms created a “power surge,” the city announced on Facebook, leading Harvey to cancel Monday’s finance and City Council meetings:
City Treasurer Aisha Pickett was going to give a report, review meeting minutes from the July 30 session and accompanying executive session, head into executive session, and hear comments from city leaders and the public, according to the agenda.
