For one theatre, “RENT” is about showcasing love in all its forms
This weekend, Rose Theatrics is bringing the love, grit, and defiance of the legendary Broadway musical to the south suburbs.
Actors from across the south suburban area will take the stage in Rose Theatrics’ production of “RENT” this weekend.
Set in the 1990s, the legendary Broadway musical follows a group of queer thespians in New York City’s East Village neighborhood wrestling with money and love in the face of HIV/AIDS.
Rose Theatrics put on its first performances last weekend at the Oak Lawn Community High School auditorium. The second run will be from Friday, August 2 to Sunday, August 4.
“RENT has touched the lives of millions around the world, inspiring generations with its message of hope, acceptance, and resilience,” the troupe wrote in a news release. “As Rose Theatrics proudly presents this landmark musical, audiences are invited to experience the transformative power of live theater and join in the celebration of love in all its forms.”
The cast hails from across the south suburbs, including communities like South Holland and Lansing.
Proceeds will be donated to the Oak Lawn Community High School’s theatre program.
