Harvey library tables 2027 preliminary budget discussion and speeds through meeting
The Harvey Public Library District board breezed through a short agenda and postponed a discussion on the library’s 2027 fiscal year budget during its September meeting.
The Harvey Public Library District board gathered on Sept. 9 for a very brief meeting, tabling significant agenda items.
A review of the library’s 2027 fiscal year budget was listed on the agenda but was tabled by President Anthony McCaskill. McCaskill said that he was “still waiting on the county to give me the final numbers…to put in our FY27 budget” and moved to postpone the discussion.
Treasurer’s report
Treasurer Felicia Powell-Johnson reported on the library’s June and July account balances. Powell said that the library had $3,416,129.85 at the end of June and $3,407,293.01 at the end of July. The board also approved June and July bills totaling $49,663.49.
Library sign to be replaced
The library’s digital sign has stopped working, and President McCaskill said the parts needed to fix it are no longer in production. The board voted to approve the sign’s replacement.
Meeting ends after six minutes
Correspondence and announcements and staff reports were also on the agenda, but McCaskill said those would be submitted as written reports. There were no public comments and no executive session.
The board adjourned at 6:36 PM, six minutes after the meeting started. Earlier this year, a former library trustee criticized the board for holding multiple short meetings in a row.
