April library board meeting canceled without reaching a quorum
The board meeting’s April 9 agenda included approving March bills lists and a treasurer’s report.

A planned April 9 meeting of the Harvey Public Library District board did not take place after officials failed to reach a quorum.
Board President Anthony McCaskill was present but declined to speak with the HWH.
Cancellation took away opportunities for public comment.
One attendee, who asked not to be named due to safety concerns, said he traveled from Chicago to speak on behalf of their partner and received rude communication from the library.
“When board meetings get canceled, then you can’t really talk to anybody,” he said.
The individual said they sought to raise concerns about customer service and communication at the library following an incident involving their partner, who is a Harvey resident.
They described being given conflicting information about library policies and difficulty getting clarification from staff.
“I’ve been hung up on, told they have better things to do than talk to me,” he said.
After being directed to bring the matter before the board, the cancellation left them without the opportunity to do so.
President McCaskill advised submitting concerns by email, which the attendee questioned would lead to any resolution.
